How Maplewoods Can Help Your Teen

We help young people and their families dealing with concerns like:

  • Depression, low mood, low self-esteem
  • Anxiety and stress
  • Learning and school difficulties
  • Bullying and peer pressure
  • Attention and executive functioning
  • Anger outbursts/behaviour concerns
  • Gender expression and identity
  • Grief and loss
  • Neurodivergence, including ADHD and autism
  • Obsessive-compulsive behaviour
  • Parenting concerns
  • Social skills and peer relationships
  • Transitioning to post-secondary and adulthood

What is Psychological Assessment?

In a psychological assessment, a clinician uses a variety of assessment tools to form a comprehensive understanding of your teenager’s characteristics. Tools might include interviews, observation, questionnaires or physiology measures.

The clinician’s evaluation is similar to how your teen’s family doctor would use various tests to assess and diagnose them.

The results of a psychological assessment can be used to diagnose your teen and inform a treatment plan that centres their wellbeing.
